This week, DoSomething has partnered with Dignity in Schools for a week of action to amplify the stories of inequitable, discriminatory, and inappropriate school discipline. Unfolding on the web and Twitter (follow the #Suspended4WHAT hashtag), this action shares stories gathered from students nationwide about how disciplinary actions with sometimes terrible consequences followed minor actions. Here’s today’s sample image and story that the campaign offers Twitter users to share (new stories and images appear daily this week):

The DoSomething site offers guidelines for participation along with suggestions for follow up that include coaching for young people to talk with their school administration and school board members about the issue. It’s well worth following and a great way to engage students as advocates.
