ASCD annual conference, 8:00 – 9:30 am, Session #2115. Michele Tissiere will present a workshop, Engaging Adolescent Learners by Embedding Social and Emotional Learning into Secondary Classrooms. Participants will engage in real-time experiences to create secondary classrooms where students feel affirmed, where their voices are heard and honored, and where their developmental and cultural needs are met. Together we will explore practical approaches to embed SEL Competencies into four classroom learning domains aligned with research based core practices that foster students’ capacity to be self-directed, independent learners, and help teachers naturally and immediately integrate them within any subject.
