ASCD annual conference, session #EW122, 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Michele Tissiere will present a workshop, SEL at the Heart of High School Instruction, to introduce an approach to embedding social and emotional learning in high school classrooms as the foundation for a comprehensive SEL plan. Participants will gain understanding of a framework for helping young people develop learning and life competencies among four skill sets. We will explore ways to support the development of these competencies by identifying, teaching, and practicing specific desired target behaviors and understandings through the use of daily instructional practices in four classroom learning domains. Participants will receive a copy of the Engaging Schools white paper, Embedding Social and Emotional Learning in High School Classrooms.
