Engaging Schools seeks experienced educators to work part-time to full-time as educational consultants supporting middle and high schools, primarily in urban districts. Engaging Schools’ consultants provide professional development, coach, and collaborate with district administrators, school leaders, and staff members to create engaging and equitable schools and classrooms.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with and coaches district and school leaders.
  • Conducts school or district needs assessments based on service request.
  • Facilitates planning for delivery of services.
  • Leads institutes and other professional development sessions.
  • Co-facilitates instructional rounds and group embedded coaching sessions with key leaders and faculty members.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.
  • Serves as a liaison between Engaging Schools, districts, and schools to ensure client success.
  • Writes program reports and other documents related to program implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum six years’ experience in middle and/or high school settings, with at least two years in a leadership role (teacher, student support, or administrative) strongly preferred
  • Minimum three years’ experience training and consulting in schools and other educational settings, including coaching of leaders, and proven ability to build rapport and work effectively with educators
  • Experience planning, conferring, and collaborating with school and district leaders
  • Knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas: secondary school redesign and reform; school climate, culture, discipline, and student support; instruction and classroom management; and advisory programs
  • Experience integrating academic, social, and emotional learning and development and addressing non-cognitive factors to maximize students’ school and life success
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to inform decision making
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to complex school contexts
  • Advanced degree in education or related field
  • Experience working in an urban environment
  • Excellent communication skills (including writing, speaking, presenting, and interpersonal skills)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Smart Boards, Dropbox, GoToMeeting, and other technology commonly used in classroom, school and district environments

Location: We are currently looking for candidates in the immediate New York City metropolitan area who are able to easily commute into NYC.  We are also looking for candidates residing in or near eastern Massachusetts.

Travel:  A moderate amount of travel outside of your immediate geographical area will also be required.

Compensation: Engaging Schools’ consultants are per diem employees and compensated based on assigned contracts. We seek people who can work the equivalent of 50% – 100% time or 110 – 215 days.  This position is not benefit-eligible, other than mandated employment taxes and insurances (i.e. state unemployment insurance and workers’ compensation insurance). Engaging Schools’ consultants are able to make contributions to a retirement account.

Start Date:  The start date is flexible, between January and July 2017.
